India has always been strong in value additions, adding more value to a garment by transforming it from a basic to a more stylized one. Players are now moving a step forward from handwork by entering into specialized operations in the value additions with new technology fulfilling the global demands of fashion for a good price.
One such company dedicated to providing value additions to the garment exporters for almost one-and-a-half decades is Shiv Jyoti Creators who have recently expanded their offerings with new machines. “Moving from regular embroideries which have been our niche for a long time now, we are looking to provide specialized value additions in line with international trends,” said Deepak Singla, Director of Shiv Jyoti Creators.
Started in 1997 as a family owned business, first situated in Okhla, the company is running a complete compliance setup, and has recently taken an innovative step by installing specialized machines of latest Japanese technology for various operations like multi-size multi-colour sequins, cording, coiling, taping, tuk embroidery, slub, frill work, boring and cut-dana-moti-fancy thread attachment. By setting up a new factory in Udyog Vihar in Gurgaon, the unit envelops a huge area for production, finishing and storage, and is also for the first time a job work unit that has come up with the latest machines in Delhi NCR.

“Such refined value additions like cording and taping, till date have been restricted to hi-fashion, and require a lot of time and manpower for its execution. With these machines such detailed executions are all possible by computerized systems,” said Deepak. Having bigger frame areas of head to head 55 cm, these machines can put the complete front of the garment at the same time, making the process time effective and therefore increasing the productivity at a large scale. The reduced handling of the garment due to complete computerized control helps in retaining the quality and consistency of the finished product. “The garment industry is sure to witness a change in the near future as not only cost-effectiveness and increased productivity, but also through such a setup ‘labour handling remains in control’ and the ‘conversion of manpower by machines’ is marked,” added Deepak.
In line with the upcoming trends which have been analyzed for 2011, the company is already getting orders like taping and cording along with the use of special applications on chemical laces and macramé techniques which will be seen a lot in fashion. Using all kinds of fabrics for base, surface embellishments like cut-dana, overall sequins work and beadwork are also coming as strong from the country.
The company is working for many big and small exporters, for reputed buyers and recognized brands of the US and European countries. With flexibility, it caters to both less and bulk orders, as per the requirements of the client. Following this major expansion, they also plan to setup new capacities with 10 more machines before the new season of 2011. Running successfully with the basic aim of quality and commitment since its initiation, Deepak is working aggressively towards converting this new unit into a complete ISO and compliance setup soon in the future. “With the aim of serving the industry better, we hope to get bigger and better orders in times to come, becoming the best and the biggest unit for job-work,” concluded Deepak excitedly.
