While the thrust of the Indian apparel industry is on system optimization and adopting high-end technologies to achieve higher productivity and quality improvements, Sweden-based Eton Systems, the pioneer of Unit Production Hanger Systems, has launched two new solutions to offer the same benefits – A new touch screen terminal application and the Eton Standard Apparel, a new and improved light system developed uniquely for high volume production.
Both the offerings will be on display at the upcoming GTE 2013 in New Delhi. Team StitchWorld catches up with team Eton to understand the advancements ahead of the event.
“A touch screen is very user-friendly – easy to learn and operate. The operator will quickly understand how to navigate through the menus. This is a very intuitive tool, especially if you are used to this type of work,” says Johan Granath, Eton Systems Software Engineer.
The touch screen application, which can be used in both android smart phones and tablets, complimenting the Eton Systems existing terminals presents a large amount of information simultaneously. The user then decides what data to show and/or update, by simply selecting options on the screen. All information is provided in real time, and accurate data makes it easier to make the right decisions.
The terminal is an everyday work tool for the operators and this will also be a boost for them, says Johan Granath, seeing great potential in the application. Another advantage of using the terminal application is the mobility. Users can monitor and control the production wherever he or she is in the facilities. The terminal application is designed to be used at all work stations, but can also be used as a tool for the supervisor. In that case there is no need to attach one terminal to every single work station.
Eton System is also looking to expand its areas of use, making it just as available for production managers. With this application Eton Systems opens up a new multimedia platform. Such as uploading pictures or movie clips to give instructions, and to demonstrate how things work. The new terminal application will be available for the Eton Advanced Concept as well as the Eton Standard Concept.

The Standard system is developed to optimize the usage of the existing production area of the company and thereby effectively enhance production capacity per square metre. “The Eton Systems concept is a great production tool to streamline one’s production processes. We have seen the need for a customized version for high volume apparel manufacturing, and now we are happy to offer both our Advanced Concept and a new Standard Concept which is even more cost-effective if you produce in high volumes,” says Tintin Jonasson, CEO, Eton Systems.
The new system is well suited for manufacturers looking for a top quality production system that is not quite as extensive as the Eton Advanced Apparel System. The standard concept includes structured module-based software with standard modules, bundle tracking modules and optional network modules with hardware systems for loading, production quality control and optional bundle tracking.
