It is sad to read that living in 21st Century and in a metro city like Bangalore, women workers who are the main stay of our garment industry, are denied their basic ‘life essentials’ – the Aadhar cards and the Ration cards – revealed a survey conducted by Centre for Advocacy and Research (CFAR) in various garment factories of the city. The survey further revealed that nutrition, health and education were serious concerns which too have not been improving. Government needs to fasten the ‘slippery’ cotton industry. Though India is cotton surplus, still the industry is found struggling; within the last six financial years, India has traversed from being leading exporter in cotton to being its major importer.
