The world has never gone through such turbulent times as the Coronavirus pandemic has hit every industry of the globe very hard, and Vietnam’s garment and textile industry is no exception. But with not a single death reported in the country so far, despite a porous border with China, the numbers complement the efforts.

Amidst isolation and restriction, when the manufacturing countries around the world are struggling, with both their production and demand coming to a standstill, Vietnam is becoming the face mask factory for the world with a total manufacturing capacity of making 8 million face masks per day, i.e. about 200 million masks per month. Generating decent revenues, the country has even donated till date over 5,50,000 face masks to France, Germany, Italy, Spain and Britain – the worst hit from this deadly disease.

Year 2019 had seen the country achieve export revenue of US $ 39 billion, but despite the fact that the figures were short by US $ 1 billion, the country is confident of surpassing the 2020 export target of US $ 42 billion. Meanwhile, as the Coronavirus impacted several fairs/events the world over getting cancelled or postponed, ITMA ASIA + CITME 2020 fair too has been rescheduled to June 2021.
