Apparel industry is again witnessing positivity as there have been consecutive 4 major announcements by the Government which gives relief to every segment of the Indian textile and apparel industry, emboldening our statement. These include: (1) New scheme for Rebate of State and Central Taxes and Levies on the export of garments and made-ups (RoSCTL); (2) Scheme for development of knitting and knitwear sector; (3) Reduction in Hank Yarn Obligation (HYO) from 40 per cent to 30 per cent of the total weaving yarn produced for domestic consumption with effect from January this year; and (4) The new integrated state textile policy with plethora of incentives as announced by Tamil Nadu.

We have analysed the expected positive outcome of these decisions in the future as due to difficult conditions at the national and international levels, at least there is some relief within the country. One must agree that these decisions should have taken much before.

The issue also includes a review of 28th edition of GTE, Delhi with over 280 exhibitors from 22 countries.
