The biggest home textile trade fair of the country started in the Capital on a busy note at Pragati Maidan, today. In its 5th edition, Heimtextil India has brought buyers and exhibitors under one roof. While the exhibitors looked happy with the footfall, the visitors, on the other hand, looked amused with the offerings and installations at the show.
State Minister for textile, Ajay Tamta inaugurated the show along with other dignitaries. On the occasion, he shared the personal experience of visiting the Heimtextil show in Germany and spoke about the opportunities created by the show in the country, “Heimtextil show has been creating job opportunities for small-scale handloom & textile artists in the country. This yearly event also gives a push to Indian economy – both for handlooms and handicrafts.” Congratulating Messe Frankfurt for their initiative he further said, “India will be a partnering country for the international show next year.”
The show witnessed a session throughout the day, by keynote speakers. David Landart, Director, Carlin Group, France spoke about Interior trends of 2019. His session highlighted right from design concepts to forecasting of trends for the coming year. Trend Analyst and Journalist Enne from Finland spoke about the changes in lifestyle trends. Mayank Mansingh Kaul, founder, The Design Project, expressed his views about the traditional ethos and the contemporary trends. A panel discussion on textile looming for interior design also took place .
The main highlights of the show included a special experience zone where various interior design concepts were showcased. Also, unique handicrafts and art specimens by Padmashree and National Awardees from around the country were displayed at the Council of Handicrafts Development Corporations, (COHANDS) Pavilion.
