The Southern Gujarat Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SGCCI) and the Southern Gujarat Chamber Trade and Industries Development Centre are putting up a three-day Yarn Expo in 2024, starting 9th August 2024. It is anticipated that more than 25,000 people will attend the exhibition at the Surat International Exhibition and Convention Centre in Sarsana.
Ninety-two exhibitors from Gujarat, Karnataka, Haryana, Maharashtra, and Tamil Nadu will be present at the event.
Seminars on the latest products will also be held. SGCCI president Vijay Mevawala said, “The expo aims to accelerate the development of Surat’s textile industry by providing industry professionals with insights into the latest yarn production technologies. Yarn manufacturers from across the country will come together to showcase a wide variety of yarns.”
“There will be biodegradable yarn, antimicrobial yarn, and products made from hyacinth and animal hair, which will create interest among visitors. Antimicrobial yarns are employed in medical textiles, and these innovative yarns are also used in sportswear and export-oriented garments,” he added.
A themed pavilion at the expo will showcase the various sources of raw materials used to make yarn, such as plants, animals, and man-made fibres. Natural yarn is made from animal hair from sheep, camels, rabbits, and llamas as well as plants including cotton, bamboo, flax, bananas, and water hyacinth.
