Colombia’s Andrea Landa with her collection, Tribal Queens which has an elegant use of local materials has won the International Apparel Federation (IAF) Designer Award. Landa will be invited to attend next year’s convention and present her collection there. The other nominees in this category were Saurabh Kumar and Sonal Verma from India; Brazil’s Fernanda Da Silva; Andrea Landa and Love Citizens, both from Colombia; and Yeo Ting Ting Jolene of Singapore. The nominees’ best pieces were displayed on mannequins in one of Medellín’s prime shopping centres, El Tesoro. Leslie Holden, head of faculty of the departments of design and management at the Amsterdam Fashion Institute and head of the jury announced the winner of the International Apparel Federation designer award.
