
The 46th edition of the leading handicrafts and gifts fair, IHGF-Delhi was recently inaugurated by Minister of State (Mos) for Textiles, Ajay Tamta at India Expo Centre & Mart, Greater Noida. The Fair is renowned for playing an important role in enhancing the handicrafts exports from the country.
Speaking at the inaugural ceremony, Ajay Tamta cited that while international buyers considered the event as the most effective sourcing medium for their demands, it was also a valuable marketing medium for the country’s exporting unit as well.
The event is expected to witness participation from over 3,200 exhibitors and international buyers representing more than 110 countries.
Tamta has also urged the exporters to help the artisans and craftsmen who are the mainstay of this industry. “A portal is being created to provide more assistance to artisans for healthcare and education of their children,” he added.
The fair will display a wide collection of handcrafted products such as home textiles, furnishings, carpets, decoratives, tableware and furniture among other items. The event will conclude on October 18.
The Minister also marked out that Export Promotion Council for Handicrafts (EPCH) and exporters must gear up for Ambiente 2019 event which is scheduled to take place in Frankfurt, Germany, where India will be one of the partner countries for the mega do.
