The recently held 17th Knit Show at Tirupur (India), organised by City Leaves, witnessed participation of almost 200 exhibitors from the textile and apparel industry. However, most of the exhibitors were left disappointed with the event.
“It is a good fair as far as local industry is concerned but it needs to improve overall. Even security at booths after the show timings was not adequate. The event should be in B2B pattern and not a casual one where one sees children roaming around everywhere,” informed Ajay Gandhi, Senior Manager – Domestic Sales, Garware Bestretch Limited, Pune.
The exhibitors insisted that the show should have been organised more professionally. There were a lot of basic provisions missing at the show. There was no proper aisle between the booths, uneven surface, lack of proper booth numbers, proper entry and exit points were missing and unhygienic washrooms were the dominant spoilers. Besides this, the number of visitors attending the show were quite less compared to the previous editions.
Displaying circular knitting machine of ‘Runshan’ and Kornit’s direct to garment digital printer at the Knit Show, Umesh Topkhanewale, CEO, ICC International Agencies, Mumbai shared, “We are not satisfied with the show as infrastructural facilities and arrangements are very poor. Its organisers might have experience in organising fairs for small exhibitors or accessory manufacturers but they don’t have experience in conducting a show for machinery distributors. We could not even complete our machinery installation on time for the show.”
Screen printing, sublimation printing and garment manufacturing machines were the show’s major highlights. Ink manufacturers and traders, accessories companies were also seen in good number at the show.
