UAE becomes 3rd largest textiles importer

According to a study conducted by the Directorate General of Commercial Intelligence and Statistics (DGCI&S), Kolkata, the UAE is now the world’s third biggest importer of textiles. Midhat M. Abu Ghazaleh, CEO of Abughazaleh Trading Company asserted that of the total textile global imports, the country has a share of 7.75 per cent. The UAE is positioned at third after United States (20.38 per cent) and UK (8.11 per cent) and surpassed Germany (7.65 per cent), France (4.46 per cent), Italy (3.74 per cent), Spain (3.08 per cent), Netherlands (2.57 per cent), Bangladesh (2.83 per cent) and China (2.10 per cent).

Macy’s to open 1st international store by Spring 2018

Abu Dhabi, capital of the United Arab Emirates will have the first ever international store of the US’s largest department store, Macy’s. Located on foreign soil in Middle East, the spanking new store of Macy’s, spanning an area of 205,000 square feet on four levels at the Al Maryah Central, a 2.3 million-square-foot shopping center shall be ready for inauguration by the spring of 2018. Also anchoring the mall will be Bloomingdale’s, Macy’s upscale cousin. The stores will offer merchandise, ambience and customer service similar to what its US customers experience, while also being sensitive to local preferences and customers in the UAE.

 

RedTag implements Infor SCE at Dubai centre

Fast fashion retailer, RedTag implemented the Supply Chain Execution (SCE) software from Infor at its Dubai distribution centre as part of a planned roll out across its six facilities to manage the firm’s large growth. The successful implementation has helped the company increase its throughput; improve the speed of critical logistics operations and customer service. Combined with the automation of the distribution centre, SCE assisted the organization accomplish a noteworthy raise in throughput without increasing the manpower and has cut down the time of refilling from the warehouse to the stores.
