Bulgarian textile export touches € 1.8 billion mark

Export of clothing and textile from Bulgaria reached € 1.8 billion mark which is the highest level of Bulgarian exports in past seven years. A 7 per cent growth in export has been marked in comparison to 2012. Textiles export totalled at € 328 million, out of the total exports of the country. According to Radina Bankova, Chairman of the Bulgarian Association of Apparel and Textile Producers (BAATPE), European countries remain their traditional markets as they have begun to purchase Bulgarian products. Major companies have also been returning to Bulgaria because of technological capabilities of Bulgarian enterprises.

Bulgaria witnessed increase in textile export by around 7-8 per cent in the current year. Radina Bankova, Chairman of BAATPE (Bulgarian Association of Producers and Exporters of Apparel and Textiles) said, “This year we do not have firm and final statistics, but we assume that the results will be good. Businesses are working hard and there is a great interest in all kinds of clothes – from socks and underwear to coats.” She also informed that there was increase in the turnover index of the companies where the rise last year approached 10 per cent. The country exports its products mainly to Germany, Italy, Greece, France and Spain.
