Transportation of goods through Benapole Land Port, Bangladesh’s largest land port, has taken a massive hit after the recent price hike in fuel oils, which has pushed up transport fare significantly.
This has been claimed by reports citing concerned stakeholders.
Speaking to media, entrepreneurs have, reportedly, alleged transport owners have increased the truck fare abnormally after the fuel price hike, due to which they are unable to send goods across the country even if lesser number of trucks are available now, which has created chaotic scenario.
Reports also added transport agents, C&F and agents and importers are now struggling to send goods to various places in Bangladesh imported from India even if importers have, reportedly, claimed trucks are now charging Taka 25,000 to Taka 28,000 to transport goods from Benapole to Dhaka, which was around Taka 15,000 to Taka 21,000 a trip earlier.
