A name synonymous with Sri Lanka’s intimates and swimwear manufacturing industry Sintesi has opened the A2S technology centre, a cutting edge Research & Development and a complete production facility in Ranala, near Colombo. The centre also houses bamboo fabric manufacturing capabilities.
Managed by Antonio De Micco Padula and his long-time business partner Kaushala Yahampath, Sintesi produces around six million garments a year for UK based brands like Marks & Spencer, Sainsbury’s, Matalan, Hunkemoller, H&M and hopes to further strengthen their position by their latest venture into new-age lingerie and swimwear-making technology. And in the process, the company is hoping to provide jobs for thousands of rural women throughout Sri Lanka, in a project that moves beyond traditional corporate social responsibility (CSR) efforts by creating a real and sustainable bottom-line incentive for everyone involved. Sintesi employs 2,000 people; and generated US $ 20 million in revenue last year.
