Prime Minister Narendra Modi has said the students of the Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Sambalpur should use their managerial skills to give a global identity to the rich textiles of Odisha.
He said these students will be able to give global recognition to the state’s Sambalpuri textile and Cuttack Ikkat fabrics.
He was speaking at the foundation-stone laying ceremony of IIM Sambalpur’s permanent campus.
The Prime Minister hoped that IIM graduates will help India in the Atmanirbhar Bharat (self-reliant) mission. The IIM students can work as a bridge between the ‘local and global’ as part of the ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat’ mission.
PM Modi also spoke about how these IIM graduates could find opportunities in setting up new-age start-ups in the region and lead them to resolve real-life problems.
It is pertinent to mention here that Odisha is famous for its rich variety of ethnic Indian fashion wear, especially handloom products. It supports thousands of weavers. The thread work, motifs and vibrant colours make them rich.
