Ashiq Chowdhury will hold the position of executive chairman of the Bangladesh Investment Development Authority (BIDA) for a two-year period commencing on the day of his joining.
In this regard, a notification was released by the Ministry of Public Administration on Thursday.
The circular states that Chowdhury’s new role as executive chairman of Bida is the equivalent of a senior secretary in the government. However, he was employed under the condition that he cut all connections to other businesses and associations.
The announcement said that any other conditions of his appointment will be determined by the authorised contract.
Chowdhury works as a banker by trade. He works as an assistant director with Hongkong and Shanghai Banking Corporation in Singapore’s Real Asset Finance Division.
Bida’s executive chairman before this was the former senior secretary Lokman Hossain Miah. He was appointed executive chairman of Bida in September 2022. But on 14th August, after the interim administration took over, his job was terminated.
