Bangladesh’s National Board of Revenue (NBR) is all set to procure six container scanner systems with an aim to install them at three land and sea port so as to check duty evasion in the export-import processes.
According to media reports, the procurement proposal for the same was approved by the cabinet committee on public purchase, at a virtual meeting, held recently.
Meanwhile, speaking to the media, concerned officials reportedly maintained the new scanners will have the capacity to scan the containers faster than the existing ones even if they will have features to make the cargoes inside the containers clearly visible while also adding once-in-use, release and delivery of containers from the ports will be significantly fast.
