
Bangladesh’s exports to India have registered a new record as in just nine months export earnings to India touched a record high of US $ 1.5 billion, for the first time, and if the current positive trend continues, exports to India may cross the US $ 2 billion milestone by the end of the current financial year, felt exporters and economists.
Media reports have maintained this while adding in the first nine months (July-March) of the current 2021-22 fiscal year, Bangladesh exported goods worth US $ 1.53 billion to the Indian market even if as per latest data from Bangladesh’s Export Promotion Bureau (EPB), India, as a single country, is now the seventh-largest export market for Bangladesh.
“Value of garments made in Bangladesh is increasing in India. It seems to me from now on it will continue to grow,” reportedly, maintained in the meanwhile, Director of Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA) Mohiuddin Rubel, who, reportedly, felt exports to India are increasing due to geographical reasons.
Reports further added Bangladesh has already left behind China in terms of apparel exports to India.
