Thanks to the persistent global trade tensions and economic slowdowns in export destinations, the apparel industry of Bangladesh may face some hiccups in the days to come.
The central bank of the country, Bangladesh Bank (BB) has underlined this even if as per Bangladesh Bank’s quarterly review of the apparel sector for January-March 2023 released recently, highlighted apparel export maintained decent growth during the outgoing fiscal year (2022-23) while the country earned US $ 12,255.75 million from garment exports in the January-March period of 2023.
Meanwhile, as per reports, this is 6.32 per cent higher than that in the corresponding period of the previous year and 0.77 per cent higher than the target set by the Commerce Ministry for the quarter but is 3.67 per cent lower than that of the previous quarter.
