The Federation of Surat Trade and Textile Associations (FOSTTA), one of India’s largest textile traders’ organisations, will hold elections on 20th June to elect its new office-bearers.
The election will determine the leadership representing more than 50,000 textile traders linked to Surat’s extensive textile business network. FOSTTA comprises members from 240 textile markets covering nearly 150,000 shops, underscoring its significant influence within the city’s textile sector.
According to the election schedule, nomination forms will be distributed over a three-day period beginning on 4th June. Candidates will be able to submit their nominations over the following three days from 6th June at the FOSTTA office.
The scrutiny of nomination papers will commence on 8th June, while the list of eligible candidates will be announced on 9th June. Candidates wishing to withdraw their nominations may do so until 13th June, after which the final list of contestants will be released.
Polling will take place on 20th June between 11 am and 5 pm. Vote counting will begin immediately after polling concludes, with the results expected to be declared shortly thereafter.
FOSTTA plays a pivotal role in addressing the concerns of textile traders and working towards improved business conditions across Surat’s textile trade ecosystem. The upcoming election is expected to shape the organisation’s leadership and policy direction for the coming term.
