Crossline Knit Fabrics Ltd., workers blocked the Dhaka-Mymensingh Highway seeking unpaid salary for two months
Reports underlined this adding the protesters from the garment factory, caused a traffic standstill on the Dhaka-Mymensingh highway as they demanded payment for two months’ overdue salaries.
The road blockade began on Thursday morning, initiated by approximately 700 workers from Unit-1, who initially went on strike inside the factory at 10 am.
Around 12:30 pm, agitated workers reportedly left the premises and positioned themselves in the Cherag Ali area of the Dhaka-Mymensingh highway.
The workers allege that their factory’s unique monthly calculation starts from the 25th of each month, and as the authorities have failed to disburse salaries for the last two months, they decided to halt work and stage a protest on the highway.
Despite attempts to engage with Crossline Knit Fabrics Ltd management, who reportedly declined to comment to the media, the workers remained steadfast in their demand for unpaid wages.
