The German footwear company Nat-2 is committed to locating novel natural materials, such as stone, coffee grinds, corn, cork, mushrooms, fish skin, flowers, cannabis, red pepper, oxblood, leaves, moss and more, for use in shoes.
The company has since expanded its selection with the ‘Reduceusecycle’ line, which seeks out novel materials for upcycling and reusing. It also introduces a vegan trainer made from discarded aluminium foil that has been recycled.
Nat-2 has partnered with Israeli start-up for cutting-edge fabrics Remeant to accomplish this. The end result is the unisex, vegan Nat-2 ‘Sleek Alchemist’ sneaker, which has a top constructed of recycled aluminium foil and reflective glass.
The replaceable insole is composed of genuine cork, the lining is made of Nat-2 bio-ceramic, and the outsole is entirely made of rubber. The tongue and heel are made of a shiny, bright glass material.
Sebastian Thies, a sixth-generation shoe designer and the company’s founder, created the Nat-2 Sleek Alchemist shoe. The shoes are made in Italy by a small family business under ethical conditions.
The Nat-2 Sleek Alchemist sneaker is available through the online shop Coilex via worldwide, carbon-neutral delivery.
