
The Chinese textile industry is keen to explore US market and in this endeavour, the industry insiders believe, the sector is committed to invest more in technology and innovation.
At the recently concluded China Textile and Apparel Trade Show in New York City, lot of exhibitors said China needs to focus more on new technology and thereby offer better services.
RomRol Outdoor, an apparel firm based in Jiangsu, showcased the best of cutting-edge technologies through a catwalk show.
The light-absorbing fabric and temperature sensor fabric displayed by the firm was the biggest crowd puller at the event.
Expressing delight at the response from the brands and retailers, Jiang Nan, Executive Director and General Manager, RomRol Outdoor, said “We have been investing 7 per cent of our annual revenue in our research and development efforts since 2015.”
Mary Chua, President, Grit & Zest, a US firm with headquarters in China, said that earlier it was easy to sell products to US market but it wasn’t the same anymore. The company has been lately offering value-added products.
Technology and innovation seems to be the only answer to woo US market, according to many exhibiting at the event.
Jiang added “We are still a decade behind our counterparts in countries like Germany and Japan, but we also have huge potential for growth.”
