Archroma-the Swiss colour and specialty chemicals company- unveiled Earthcolors-a range of completely traceable biosynthetic sulphur dyes for cotton and cellulose-based fibres. Derived from agricultural waste such as almond seeds and rosemary leaves sourced from within 500 km of manufacturing facility in Barcelona, the range currently has six neutral colour tones. The garments dyed with these dyes will come with a chip that allows the consumer to trace the journey of the dyestuffs used in manufacturing through the supply chain. Developed with four years of R&D, these dyes equal the fixation rate, fastness and overall performance of Archroma’s existing range of sulphur dyes made from conventional petroleum based raw materials.
