Guével has extensive experience at luxury and retail brands alike thanks to working at LVMH, beginning with Louis Vuitton and moving onto becoming the International Director of Céline as well as his career at luxury accessories brand S.T. Dupont. Thierry Gillier, the co-founder and president of Z&V has painted high hopes the label with the appointment of Jean-Jacques Guével, having decided to strengthen the label’s transnational expansion plans, in order to reach the projected € 700 million revenue objective.
Zadig & Voltaire continues to stand at slightly lower yet niche strata of the luxury market and Guével calls this more strategy than a shortcoming, adding, “The brand has never strayed from this course throughout its existence, it’s our strength: we have a unique positioning, between luxury labels and the more accessible ones, with clothes and accessories defined as ‘easy luxury’, in the words of our Creative Director Cécilia Bönström.” However, the brand has already started taking steps into the plan for global outreach with its extensively publicized 20th anniversary show in New York, as well as the new flagship in Broome Street opening next July.
