Superdry, the clothing retailer from the UK, has posted group revenue of £600.7 million for the year that ended 23 April 2022. Now that’s a surge of 8.1 per cent over the previous year.
The British fashion stalwart saw its store revenue go up by a massive 59 per cent year-on-year (Y-o-Y), though the same fell by 21.8 per cent, when compared to 2019/2020 level.
Notably, e-commerce revenue dipped by 24 per cent Y-o-Y.
The retailer has attributed the drop in online sales to shift towards physical trading, as also reduced promotional activity.
The wholesale revenue surged by 4.2 per cent Y-o-Y to clock £222.8 million – and all this despite disruptions across Europe.
Julian Dunkerton, CEO, Superdry, substantiates and says “Despite the ongoing tough trading conditions and turmoil in the market, our focus on full-price trading will deliver a strong gross margin improvement for FY22.”
Founded in 2003, Superdry is a Cheltenham-based clothing retailer, which generated £871.7 million in 2019. Its products combine vintage Americana styling with Japanese-inspired graphics.
