The UK-based department store chain retailer is reaping the benefits of its recent installation of Lectra’s 3D pattern-making software Modaris. Following the deployment of software, 14 per cent of online F&F purchases were returned in 2014, as opposed to 19 per cent the year before. The reduced rate of returns has helped the retailer make business savings worth US $ 3.21 million. Sharing the above information at Association of Suppliers to the British Clothing Industry’s Fit Factor conference, Tesco Category Technical Director Alan Wragg further informed that Modaris has aided the company reduce lead times because fewer fittings are needed during production. He added, “If we can cut the lead time by one to two weeks, we sell so much more at full price rather than having to discount. If we do this on 30 per cent of styles we make between US $ 21.39 million and US $ 42.7 million more profit.”
