Leading retailers are getting all geared up for a great Christmas with Target announcing its holiday plans much to the delight of the consumers. The retailer rolled out its Black Friday print and television advertisements with specials that started immediately.
Besides electronic and toy deals, Target highlighted “Skip-the-Line” mobile checkout technology that will allow customers to complete the checkout process from anywhere in the store. “Skip the Line” will allow customers to pay for their items with team members in the store using hand-held devices. During peak events, such as Black Friday, workers will be located in the busiest departments.
The retailer already launched technology last year that lets store associates place Target TGT, +0.72 per cent e-commerce orders from the sales floor and have the items shipped to a customer’s home.
This follows Walmart’s WMT, +0.06 per cent “Check Out With Me” announcement, a similar technology that allows customers make their purchases directly from store associates throughout various departments. Earlier, Target had announced that it would also offer free two-day shipping on virtually any purchase.
Furthermore, the Minneapolis-based retailer also said that it will open its doors at 5 pm on Thanksgiving this year and close at 1 am, then reopen on Black Friday at 7 am.
According to the National Retail Federation, consumer confidence is higher than it has been in years, and shoppers are expected to spend an average of US $ 638 on gifts this year, a jump of 4.1 per cent as compared to the previous year.
