Aditya Birla Lifestyle Brands Ltd (ABLBL) plans to add 40-50 Reebok stores annually over the next few years as it seeks to capitalise on significant untapped opportunities in the Indian sportswear market, according to company executives during the latest earnings call. The brand’s retail network has also expanded to more than 210 stores during the period.
Reebok recorded approximately 30% growth in the March quarter, supported by robust same-store sales growth and continued network expansion. ABLBL Deputy Managing Director Vishak Kumar said the brand was experiencing strong momentum but still had considerable room for expansion.
According to the company, Reebok’s growth is being driven by a combination of double-digit like-for-like sales growth, network expansion and the introduction of new products. Recent launches, including the Multi-Court Shoes range, have received a positive market response and are expected to support future growth.
Reebok’s India operations stem from a long-term licensing agreement signed in 2021 between Aditya Birla Fashion & Retail Ltd (ABFRL) and the Authentic Brands Group, granting exclusive rights to distribute and sell Reebok products in India and select ASEAN markets. Following the demerger of ABFRL’s branded apparel business, the brand now operates under ABLBL.
As part of its expansion strategy, ABLBL is targeting both emerging retail destinations and smaller towns alongside established metropolitan markets. Kumar said new malls and retail locations are continuously emerging across the country, creating fresh opportunities for expansion. He added that smaller towns have become an important source of growth and will remain a focus area for the company.
The company also expects product innovation and deeper penetration across categories to drive continued same-store sales growth. Kumar stated that retail like-for-like growth has consistently remained in double digits and that there remains considerable scope for further improvement through innovation and category expansion.
