Irish fashion retailer Primark has reinforced its commitment to the Italian market, announcing that it has signed an agreement with Segro, a specialist in industrial real estate development, to build its first logistics hub in the country. Construction is scheduled to begin next year, with the 81,000-square-metre facility planned for Alessandria — a strategically important location due to its proximity to the Port of Genoa. The development is expected to create around 200 new jobs.
At the same time, Primark has announced the opening of its 20th store in Italy, a 2,300-square-metre space inside the Gli Orsi shopping centre in Biella. The investment, valued at more than US $ 7.15 million, will generate 90 new jobs for the local community.
Luca Ciuffreda, Director of Primark Italy, said the company was “excited to open our new store at the Gli Orsi shopping centre and to announce plans for the opening of our first logistics hub.” He added that the passion, dedication and teamwork of the organisation had made the expansion possible, saying he was proud of “what we have achieved together.” Ciuffreda noted that Primark was pleased to bring its offer of affordable fashion and high-quality products to Biella, as part of its wider strategy to invest in the Italian market. He said he was particularly pleased to support local employment and looked forward to welcoming new customers.
The Biella store will offer a wide range of Primark products, from everyday essentials to the latest fashion trends, including the retailer’s Edit collection and collaborations with Rita Ora and Paula Echevarría. In 2025, 74% of all clothing sold by Primark contained recycled or more sustainably sourced materials, and the company aims to reach 100% by 2030.
The Biella opening forms part of Primark’s wider US $ 44 million investment programme announced in May 2025. The expansion includes additional new stores in Perugia, at the Collestrada shopping centre, Naples (Grande Sud and La Cartiera shopping centres), and Rome.
