Nicobar, the lifestyle brand known for blending modern design with Indian sensibilities, has opened its first store in Chandigarh, marking its debut in upper North India. This expansion is part of Nicobar’s broader strategy to establish a presence in non-metro and Tier-2 cities, building on its existing store in Pune.
βChandigarh’s Nicobar outlet is our 20th in the country and represents our entry into upper North India, which includes Punjab, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, and Jammu & Kashmir. We’re thrilled with the response, as Nicobar not only appeals to lifestyle aesthetics but also offers a sense of modernity that stays true to Indian traditions,β said Raul R. Rai, Co-Founder of Nicobar. Co-founders Raul R. Rai and Simran Lal engaged with the media during the launch event of Nicobarβs Chandigarh store.
Explaining the choice of Chandigarh, Raul noted, βOur research showed that Nicobar resonates with the lifestyle aspirations of the Chandigarh market. Our consumers are our priority, and when we sense a demand for Nicobar in a city, we strive to be there.β
Raul, who spent 18 years abroad as a student and professional, revealed Nicobarβs ambition to take Indian design aesthetics global. βWeβre eager to expand internationally, as there’s a significant appreciation for our culture, heritage, and style beyond India, not just among the Indian diaspora but also others. We plan to open outlets overseas once we find the right partner who shares Nicobar’s values and vision,β he added.
Founded in 2016 by Simran Lal and Raul R. Rai, Nicobar offers a wide range of products, including menβs and womenβs apparel, home goods, accessories, and gifting options, all reflecting India-rooted aesthetics with contemporary relevance.
With 20 stores across nine cities in India and a growing digital footprint, Nicobar caters to contemporary Indian consumers seeking authenticity and connection in their lifestyle choices.
