Famed trend forecaster Lidewij Edelkoort is all set to open a public design gallery at firm Trend Union’s headquarters. The setup will officially open on January 18, 2018, at Boulevard Saint-Jacques in the 14th arrondissement of Paris (France).
The space will be a way for Edelkoort’s team to shed some light on things from the world of art, craft and design that they believe should be preserved and showcased at the time.
For 2018, Edelkoort with the help of business associates, Philip Fimmano and François Epin, will host four to five events at the gallery. Heartwear, a non-profit brand created by Edelkoort and her friends, will display a pop-up shop to mark the opening. The brand, launched in 1993, will showcase the work of indigenous artisans and their sustainable businesses.
In addition to this, Trend Union will use this location to hold presentations and debate forums on matters that Edelkoort herself feels passionate about. For example, the ‘anti-fashion movement’ can be a huge theme for their shows as the topic strongly aligns with the trend analysis firm’s personal philosophy.
Edelkoort announced that her Heartwear collection is a hobby project and will be shown in dissections at regular intervals. The new gallery will serve as a cultural melting pot with regular readings and discussions on relevant creative world issues.
