Following the success of going entirely ‘carbon neutral’ this year, the Italian luxury fashion brand Gucci has dared the industry biggies to go carbon neutral.
In a letter written to Chief Executive Officers (CEO), Marco Bizzarri, CEO, Gucci, has asked them to come forward and take immediate steps to minimise the greenhouse gas emissions.
He added that in the next decade, the firms should focus on implementing eco-friendly initiatives rather than just focusing on company goals.
Marco substantiated “Today we need to be responsible and accountable for the full scope of our greenhouse gas emissions and deliver nature-based climate solutions that mitigate these and drive positive change.”
And his efforts seem to be paying off!
The RealReal, luxury resale platform, has responded to the letter by saying that it plans to go fully ‘carbon neutral’ by the year 2021.
Julie Wainwright, CEO, The RealReal said “Marco Bizzarri’s challenge to execute more radical and immediate change inspired us to respond with greater urgency and turn up the dial on the commitment we made with the UN’s Fashion Industry Charter for Climate Action.”
It now needs to be seen how many more get inspired by Gucci and go carbon neutral.
