In an effort to discipline in the yet nascent industry while also protect the merchants and customers from the unscrupulous business practices, Bangladesh Government will start registering e-commerce and F-commerce firms within a month even as the Commerce Ministry has already finalised the draft of the registration form to provide a unique number to the online e-commerce platforms.
Media reports maintained this citing Additional Secretary of Commerce Ministry and Commerce Secretary in this regard.
“…we are hopeful that we will be able to start the registration within the next one month,” reportedly, claimed Commerce Secretary Tapan Kanti Ghosh even as Additional Secretary Hafizur Rahman, on his part maintained, “We are trying to start the registration process as soon as possible…”
It may be mentioned here that following recent reports of anomalies and malpractices in the e-commerce sector, the Government has moved to introduce the unique number for the e-commerce as well Facebook-based digital commerce firms known as F-commerce even if companies that are currently running e-commerce operations in the country following registration with the Register of Joint Stock and Companies and Firms will, reportedly, also have to register with the Commerce Ministry.
