Unifa Accessories (BD) Co Ltd, a company registered in the British Virgin Islands with ownership ties to China, has announced plans to invest US $ 48.66 million in establishing a manufacturing facility within Bangladesh’s Bepza Economic Zone (Bepza EZ) in Mirsharai, Chittagong. The investment aims to produce a wide range of fashion accessories, including bags, belts, caps, hats, scarves, mufflers, eyewear, and eyeglass frames.
An official agreement signing ceremony took place today at the Bepza Complex in Dhaka, where representatives from the Bangladesh Export Processing Zones Authority (Bepza) and Unifa Accessories formalised the partnership. The deal was signed by Md Ashraful Kabir, Member (Investment Promotion) of Bepza, and Qian Danchu, Chairman of Unifa Accessories (BD).
The new plant is projected to manufacture approximately 28 million fashion items annually and is expected to generate around 2,830 jobs for Bangladeshi workers. Bepza Executive Chairman Major General Abul Kalam Mohammad Ziaur Rahman expressed confidence that the project would significantly contribute to Bangladesh’s socio-economic development. He assured the investor of Bepza’s full support to facilitate smooth operations.
Currently, 42 companies have signed agreements to invest a total of US $ 942.15 million in the Bepza EZ, with four already operational. Senior officials from Bepza, including Members Md Imtiaz Hossain and ANM Foyzul Haque, along with Executive Directors Md Tanvir Hossain, Md Khorshid Alam, and ASM Anwar Parvez, attended the signing ceremony, alongside representatives from Unifa Accessories.
This investment underscores Bangladesh’s growing appeal as a hub for manufacturing and exports in the fashion accessories sector.
