Vertically integrated textile manufacturer Sportking India Ltd. reported a strong performance for the quarter ended June 30, with its standalone net profit surging 122.85 per cent year-on-year (YoY) to Rs 75.97 crore (US $7.95 million), compared with Rs 34.09 crore (US $3.57 million) in the corresponding quarter of the previous fiscal.
Revenue from operations increased 20.12 per cent YoY to Rs 703.67 crore (US $73.62 million) in Q1 FY27, while profit before tax (PBT) jumped 119.88 per cent YoY to Rs 102.20 crore (US $10.69 million).
The company, which operates across yarns, fabrics, garments and retail, also reported a robust improvement in operating performance. EBITDA rose 90.3 per cent YoY to Rs 132.2 crore (US $13.83 million) in Q1 FY27 from Rs 69.5 crore (US $7.27 million) in Q1 FY26, while the EBITDA margin expanded by 693 basis points to 18.8 per cent from 11.9 per cent a year earlier.
On the operational front, total production volume stood at 20,120 MT during Q1 FY27. Meanwhile, yarn sales volume increased marginally to 20,492 MT from 20,327 MT in the corresponding quarter of the previous year.
Commenting on the performance, Munish Avasthi, Chairman and Managing Director, said, “We are pleased to report a strong start to FY27, with revenue growing by 20.1 per cent year-on-year and profitability more than doubling during the quarter. EBITDA increased by 90.3 per cent, while PAT grew by 122.8 per cent, supported by improved realizations, healthy spreads and our continued focus on operational excellence.”
According to Sportking India, margins improved on both a year-on-year and sequential basis during the June quarter, driven by favourable market conditions and strong operational performance.
Looking ahead, the company noted that demand across key export markets remained stable, with Europe witnessing improved traction. It added that the India–UK Free Trade Agreement and the temporary removal of cotton import duty are expected to provide further support to the textile sector.
In terms of capacity expansion, Sportking is progressing with its greenfield project in Odisha, which will add 1.5 lakh spindles. The first phase of production is expected to commence in the third quarter of FY27.
Additionally, the company commissioned a solar power project during the quarter to enhance energy efficiency and reduce power costs.
Sportking currently has an annual turnover of over Rs 1,500 crore (US $156.94 million), with exports contributing more than US$ 100 million in revenue. The company exports its products to more than 30 countries worldwide.
