Congress’ senior leader Rahul Gandhi has assured to support jeans manufacturing hub Ballari and to make Ballari Jeans a global brand.
As part of Bharat Jodo Yatra led by him, Rahul met with small and medium textile industry entrepreneurs and workers in Moka and said, “After the 2023 state elections, when the Congress comes to power in the state, we will take upon the challenge to make Ballari Jeans a global brand.”
He noted that despite the history of the region as a textile hub, there appeared to be little in terms of strategy to support the industry here. The region’s textile capability and heritage made it potentially a global textiles manufacturing powerhouse.
Rahul Gandhi stressed on the need to develop the industry in a holistic way and said the cluster needs comprehensive banking, finance and other support infrastructure to succeed.
He discussed various aspects of the business’s challenges with small and medium-level entrepreneurs.
Ballari, a leading jeans manufacturer, is struggling due to various challenges and not growing as per its potential. Apart from supplying jeans to various Indian cities, it also exports to various countries.
