Manufacturers and suppliers of garment machines headquartered in Ludhiana have requested space from the State Government so they can erect a permanent exposition centre there. In order to raise awareness of their issues, the industry’s representative, the Garment Machinery Manufacturers and Suppliers’ Association (GMMSA), has joined forces with the Chamber of Industrial and Commercial Undertakings (CICU).
GMMSA chairman Ram Krishan said, “Garment machinery manufacturers and suppliers are facing huge problems as there is no permanent centre for us to exhibit our products and services.”
The association chairman urged the Punjab government to grant space for the centre and stated that the businessmen were willing to shoulder the cost of building and maintaining the exhibition centre and that the state government should support them in this endeavour.
Teja Singh, president of the GMMSA said, “A permanent exhibition centre is the need of every sector of industry in Ludhiana, and if such an infrastructure comes up in the city, crores of rupees of the industry could be saved from going down the drain every year, which are spent on organising different exhibitions and events.”
