Epic Group – a Hong Kong-based leading global garment manufacturing group – has revealed details of its first-ever India project.
In an exclusive conversation with Team Apparel Resources recently, Ranjan Mahtani, Executive Chairman, EPIC Group, mentioned that the company is now committed to open its first vertical manufacturing set-up in Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh), instead of Ranchi (Jharkhand), a location that was previously selected for factory establishment before Covid-19.
“We are finalising 35 acres of land in Bhopal to open our new factory. We are committed to start our first project in India which will be a vertical set-up that will include four manufacturing units,” told Ranjan to Apparel Resources.
Epic Group is in talk with its far-east partners and technical partners to set up a high-end functional fabric unit in this vertical unit, as it feels, producing functional fabrics needs right kind of technology.
Ranjan also mentioned that a team of EPIC Group, including him, may visit India in February ’23 to meet Piyush Goyal, Minister of Textiles, Commerce and Industry and Shivraj Singh Chauhan, Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh and further discuss about the India project of the group.
It’s worth noting here that Epic Group announced in the beginning of 2022 its plans of foraying into India market by investing US $ 20 million in apparel manufacturing in Ranchi (Jharkhand). The project was later called off due to Covid-19 pandemic.
Epic Group is recently on an expansion spree as it aims to cater to the future demands in the apparel industry. The group recently opened a new factory in Dhaka (Bangladesh) in December ’22, while Jordan’s mammoth manufacturing project will become operational in March ’23.
