
Under the ‘Grant for Research & Entrepreneurship across Aspiring Innovators in Technical Textiles (GREAT)’ scheme, the Ministry of Textiles has given funds to four firms, each worth about Rs. 50 lakh.
The National Technical Textiles Mission’s eighth empowered programme committee (EPC) meeting saw the approval of the funding. The meeting that approved the emoluments was convened by the secretary of the textiles ministry.
The chosen Start-ups will work on projects in a variety of fields, including smart textiles, sustainable textiles, and composites.
According to a ministry statement, the committee also authorised a grant of about Rs. 20 crore for five educational institutions to include technical textiles courses in their curricula in accordance with the “General Guidelines for Enabling of Academic Institutes in Technical Textiles.”
The approved Education Institutes have proposed to introduce new B.Tech courses in different fields and applications of technical textiles including Geotextiles, Geosynthetics, Composites, Civil Structures, etc.
