The Export Processing Zones in Bangladesh have crossed the US $ 8 billion mark for the first time ever even as export earnings in FY ’22 of the industries of EPZs hit all-time high growth since its journey of 40 years.
Reports claimed this while underlining eight Government EPZs under the Bangladesh Export Processing Zones Authority (BEPZA) did really well in terms of investment, employment generation and export earnings in the 2021-22 fiscal year (FY) and went on to add the export earnings of the industries of EPZs hit all-time high growth since its journey of four decades in FY ’22, registering a 30.41 per cent growth to US $ 8.65 billion from what was US $ 6.63 billion in FY ’21, thereby crossing the US $ 8 billion mark for the first time ever.
Of the 8 EPZs, Chittagong EPZ came in as the topper earning US $ 2.59 billion in the FY ’22 followed by Dhaka EPZ (US $ 2.12 billion), Karnaphuli EPZ (US $ 1.44 billion), Adamjee EPZ (US $ 935.76 million), Comilla EPZ (US $ 814.82 million), Uttara EPZ (US $ 376.66 million), Ishwardi EPZ (US $ 209.06 million) and Mongla EPZ (US $ 158.24), reports further added.
