The Tamil Nadu Government was advised by BJP State President K. Annamalai to take advantage of the prospects that the textile sector in Tirupur district is anticipated to present itself with in light of the political uncertainties in Bangladesh.
In a statement, Annamalai said, “The textile exports from Bangladesh to American and European markets amount to over US $ 3.8 billion. Due to the current political unrest in Bangladesh, Tirupur district, which accounts for more than 50 per cent of textile exports in India, is likely to get a lot of opportunities in the sector. The textile trade from Tirupur will increase manifold by tapping this potential opportunity.”
At least 10 per cent of the textile trade is predicted to move to Tirupur, according to experts, and Annamalai questioned whether the State administration was ready to take advantage of this opportunity. He asked M.K. Stalin, the Chief Minister, to take advantage of the upcoming prospects in Tirupur’s textile industry.
