The Alliance Project report has concluded that the UK textile and apparel sector will be adding 15000 jobs by 2020. The Alliance Project is a not-for-profit organisation established to examine the potential for repatriating textiles manufacturing to the UK. The report notifies the exponential growth experienced by the UK textile industry as it added 5000 new jobs to the economy. The report further highlights that ‘micro-companies’ rather than OEMs or prime manufacturers in the UK textile industry are contributing to the post-recession growth. Of particular note was the observation that reshoring of textile manufacturing in UK is being supported by a number of retailers through programs like National N Brown Textiles Growth Program – a textile grant growth program in British history, led by N Brown Group, a UK-based apparel retailer. The program is also supported by the Department for Business Innovation and Skills (BIS), Manchester Growth Company, M&S, ASOS, Roland Mouret and other world class manufacturers.
