The Guangdong unit of China’s Esquel Group, a premier textile and apparel manufacturer, was recently awarded with the Oeko-Tex’s highest classification certification- STeP. Being the first Chinese origin manufacturer to receive the certification, Zeng Jun, Quality Systems Management (QSM) at Esquel avers that without compromising with the thrust on sustainability in every sphere of business, the company is being driven to maximized quality levels. The preparations for the certification involved assessments and company audit being carried out by Hong Kong based subsidiary Testex Swiss Textile-Testing. The specifications hence obtained were verified on the site by Oeko-Tex. “The results achieved at Guangdong Esquel Textiles production facilities go far beyond the basic requirements for STeP certification, taking them up to the maximum level,” said Oeko-Tex lead auditor Adrian Meili.
