In a move to augment market presence in the US, the knitwear industry of Tirupur has collaborated with America’s Bradley University to develop a business plan. Developed by Rajesh Iyer, Associate Professor, Marketing and Director, International Business Program at Foster College of Business, Bradley University, Illinois, and his Executive MBA students, has delivered recommendations in the areas of technology and infrastructure exploration, image management and market discovery. Under the first head, the report places thrust on continuous infrastructure improvement along with local government officials, benchmarking China’s infrastructure growth and competitors for identification of additional opportunities. “Image management” suggested setting up of a Tirupur Exporters’ Association (TEA) office in the US and associations with supplier diversity councils. The “market discovery” proposition elaborated on increasing capacity through investing in the infrastructure of competitors besides utilizing current, former and prospective customers.
