The first edition of Indigo 2012, a show dedicated exclusively to the denim industry and business, is scheduled for 20th and 21st April 2012 at Apparel House, Gurgaon. Denim Club India, the organizer of the show, claims that it’s the first-ever denim industry expo and the primary objective of the show is to help meet the needs of the fast-growing denim industry and a rapidly evolving denim-wear market, and to enable all the stakeholders in the entire denim eco-system in coming together on a single platform for networking, exchange of ideas, sharing of current experiences and vision for the future.
“Indigo is planned to be much more than a denim buyer-seller meet, and shall cater to the complete supply-chain of denim, showcasing the best and the latest in denim fabric and denim made-ups, from the denim industry from India and abroad, and highlighting the enormous potential in the denim business in the coming years,” shares R. Dudeja, Founder, Denim Club India. With around 40,000 sq. feet of exhibition area, Indigo will have most of the prominent denim industry players in India along with a few international companies including Pakistan.
Commenting on Pakistan’s participation in the show Dr. Mirza Ikhtiar Baig, Advisor to the Prime Minister on Textile, Government of Pakistan and Chairman & CEO of Pak Denim Limited says, “I am glad to learn that for the first time, leading denim mills from Pakistan are participating to showcase their products and services to the supply chain of denim Indian and foreign buyers. Denim is a fast growing business in Pakistan and Pakistan has become denim hub in the region. I hope our products will attract Indian market.”
Besides denim mills, both Indian and international, the other exhibiting segments would be denim apparel brands of India and overseas. There would also be manufacturers and suppliers of yarns, zippers, buttons, rivets, sewing thread and needles.
In trims and embellishments, tags and care label companies would be there. There would also be machine players catering to the denim industry along with dyes and specialty chemicals used for denim.
Indigo 2012 will also host the first-ever Denim Awards in India, showcasing the achievements and contribution of individuals and organizations in denim industry and business, and recognizing the good work that has been carried out in the denim industry.
The show will also give an opportunity to bring professionals and technicians from denim industry and business face-to-face with their counterparts from across the globe, and enable them to interact with each other in an informal and congenial environment, thus setting a new trend, and will mark the beginning of a new era in the process of internationalization of the denim business.
