
Alexandra Berg von Linde, Ambassador of Sweden to Bangladesh paid a courtesy call on S. M. Mannan (Kochi), President of the Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA).
The envoy, accompanied by Lovisa Hofmann, Head of Political, Trade, and Communication at the embassy, met with the leaders of BGMEA, including Senior Vice President Khandoker Rafiqul Islam, Vice President Miran Ali, Vice President Abdullah Hil Rakib, and Directors Asif Ashraf, Md. Imranur Rahman, Md. Ashikur Rahman (Tuhin), Shovon Islam, Shams Mahmud, Md. Jakir Hossain, and Md. Rezaul Alam (Miru).
The discussions centered on various issues of mutual interest, with a primary focus on avenues to bolster bilateral trade and investment between Bangladesh and Sweden
The envoy was informed by the BGMEA officials on the present state, future direction, and opportunities of Bangladesh’s garment industry.
By showcasing the steps made to promote sustainability across the sector, they emphasised the industry’s dedication to sustainable growth and development.
Within this framework, they conveyed a strong desire for Swedish assistance in developing the RMG industry, namely in the areas of innovation, technology transfer, renewable energy, and green growth projects.
During the discussion, the parties involved pledged to investigate prospects for enhanced economic connections and cooperative paths that would be advantageous to Bangladesh and Sweden.
