With the view to enhance the ease of doing business, particularly to facilitate preferential export trade, the Export Promotion Bureau (EPB) in Bangladesh has decided to extend the tenure of the enrolment certificate for exporters from the current one to five years.
This is as per reports, which added the exporters currently need to renew every year their enrolment certificate to avail services from the EPB even as the move to extend the tenure has reportedly been decided keeping in perspective exporters who need it to avail preferential market access under GSP facilities and treaties of different blocs.
Reports further added as per the new move of the EPB, which provides various types of services to the exporters including SAARC Preferential Trading Arrangement (SAPTA) certificate, Generalised Scheme of Preference (GSP) certificate, South Asian Free Trade Area (SAFTA) certificate, Asia-Pacific Trade Agreement (APTA) certificate, and services linked to Registered Exporter (REX) system, etc., an exporter in the related application will have mention for how many years they need the enrolment, based on which fees will be determined as per the tenure and the value-added tax will be realized as well.
