
With Eid holidays preceding the general polls, most of the lawmakers will be spending more time in their respective constituencies with the upcoming polls in consideration. Bangladesh is likely to present and pass the national budget for the fiscal year 2023-24 in parliament even as there is a constitutional obligation to pass the budget by 30th June.
This is as per reports, which went on to add as per the Government holiday schedule, Eid-ul-Azha holiday will begin on 28th June, and typically, the Finance Minister presents the budget proposal to Parliament on the first or second Thursday in the month of June and, this year, it is likely to be on 1st June (which is the first Thursday of the month) even as per Finance Ministry, there is a time constraint on holding discussion on the proposed budget, this time around, in the parliament. The discussion on the proposed budget could start early and the budget is expected to be passed soon as well.
