
One of Bangladesh’s leading primary textile manufacturers, Maksons Group, has decided to invest around Taka 1,000 crore to set up three industrial units at the Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Shilpa Nagar (BSMSN).
According to reports, Managing Director of Maksons Group, Mohammad Ali Khokon, signed a land-lease agreement – as per the agreement, the Group has taken around 30 acres of land on lease for 50 years in the economic zone to set up the three units by 2022 to produce high-end yarns and fabrics – with the Bangladesh Economic Zones Authority (BEZA) recently.
Established around 35 years ago, Maksons Group’s (the Group currently operates seven spinning factories with capacity to produce 132,672 spindles or 25,150 tonnes annually) Metro Spinning Limited will reportedly invest Taka 340 crore, while Maksons Spinning Mills Limited will reportedly invest Taka 254 crore and Taka 348 crore into two separate units, claimed media reports citing sources within the company.
Despite some losses in the last fiscal year, Maksons Group is going for a big investment to manufacture high-value products to ensure its stay in the competitive market, reportedly stated the Group’s MD Mohammad Ali Khokon while adding Maksons Group also has plans to establish an apparel manufacturing unit in Mirsharai.
